THE ROYAL CANADIAN REGIMENT.

Companies and Detachments.

The following message received from Brigadier general A.C. Macdonnell, C.M.G.; D.S.O., is to be read to all ranks before proceeding to the trenches to-day.

Once again The Royal Canadian Regiment has done a gallant deed and I heartily congratulate you and all ranks upon the splendid success just made, worthy of the best traditions of the old Regiment we Canadians are so justly proud of.

As far as the raiders themselves, I am officially reporting "their conduct was beyond all praise, as a perusal of the acts for which rewards are asked, proves."

Dear Willets,

The delay in writing to congratulate you and your gallant fellows on their most successful raid has been occasioned by the delay of your own report, as I wished to read it before writing.
