THE ROYAL CANADIAN REGIMENT.

OPERATION ORDER No. 22.

July 8th, 1917.

Reference Maps - Sheet 36.c.S.W.; Sheet 36.b

(1)    The battalion will be relieved by the 5TH C.M.R. Battalion on the night of 10/11th July 1917 and will move to the CHATEAU de la HAIE Area, stopping in the ZOUAVE VALLEY Area en route.

(2)     On the day of the relief, Guides will be sent as below, to report at 4.00 p.m. to the 8TH Canadian Infantry Brigade H.Q., at RUGBY Dump on the Arras-Bethune Road (S.19.b.5.2.)

(3)     The usual Advance parties will be sent forward to take over Quarters in the ZOUAVE VALLEY Area, to report there on the night of 9/10th July 1917. On July 10th, one guide per Platoon will then return to his Company to guide company out.

(4)     All details of relief will be arranged directly between Company Commanders concerned.

(5)     Completion of relief will be reported by the Code Phrase "Your B.M.R. 101 received at . . . . . . . . "

(6)     The Relieving Troops will not move over VIMY RIDGE before 10.00 p.m.

(7)     Three Mules per Company will report to all Company Headquarters at 10.15 p.m. on the night of relief, to take back Messes, Utensils, etc., etc.

(8)     The battalion will bivouac in the ZOUAVE VALLEY Area until the afternoon of the day following relief. Arrangements will be made for Breakfast and Lunch to be served to the men in this Area.

Breakfast will take the form of a HOT MEAL ready for the men on arrival.

(9)     Lieut. ISBESTER will be in charge of the Advance Parties and will allot Areas to the Companies. There are no Tents or Bivouacs in this Area.
