Lieut Ivan E. Soule, whse death was recently recorded, was a native of St. Stephen, and was born here twenty years ago, a son of Asa and Minnie Soule.

He was an enterprising and ambitios young man of splendid character, and was justly esteemed.

After passing through the high school and normal school at Fredericton, he taught successfully at St. Mary's, Little Shemogue and Sussex. He spent one year at Dalhousie college and another at Toronto university and was teaching in the Canadian west when he enlisted in December, 1914.

He went overseas in March, 1915 and to France in June of that same year. He was first wounded Septenber 15th, 1916, and was gassed and slightly wounded by a shell last spring.

The young hero won his way gradually upward in the service and was commissioned a lieutenant for service in the field. He paid the supreme price of devotion to duty in the fighting of August 28, and is numbered among the worthy young men of this town who have done what they could.
