Highlighted Battle Honours are approved for emblazonment on the Regimental Colour. Capitalized Battle Honours indicate the name of a group of battles, actions or engagements. Where common names but separate year dates created a combined battle honour title authorized as a single name for emblazonment, both have been highlighted.

On 16 Jan 2011, Defence Minister Peter MacKay announced that the name of the 2nd Battalion, Nova Scotia Highlanders (Cape Breton) will be changed back to the Cape Breton Highlanders. It is yet to be confirmed by The Regimental Rogue if this constitutes a reversal of the 1958 amalgamation of regiments that formed the two battalions of the Nova Scotia Highlanders, which the renaming would appear to indicate. If this reversal is confirmed then the two remaining units, "The Nova Scotia Highlanders" and the "Cape Breton Highlanders," should revert back to their pre-amalgamation lists of battle honours.
